With support from the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP), Intelligent Energy Systems Pty Ltd (IES), together with Economic Consulting Associated (ECA) and Nel Consulting Limited (NCL) successfully delivered the Public Dissemination Workshop for the WESM Price Cap Study Project on 1 December 2025.
The workshop brought together key industry stakeholders, energy agencies, and market participants to present the results of the analysis and assessment of the WESM price-mitigating measures, including recommended updates to the price-mitigation measures and cap values, potential tariff impacts, and insights on renewable energy participation in the WESM. The results were consistently discussed and updated through a technical working group convened as part of the study.
This marks an important step toward a more competitive, sustainable, and investment-ready energy future for the Philippines.
By adjusting the WESM price settings and increasing the secondary price cap, sustained electricity price spikes are mitigated while balancing investment signals for power generators and safeguarding consumers from high electricity tariffs.
